I had an intense conversation with Claude today.
The topic: "How is NLC different from… Claude?"
Because honestly I wasn't sure how to articulate it.
I've been sleeping 3-4 hours a night for 2 months straight, building and debugging NLC.
And somewhere in the grind, I forgot to ask myself the marketing questions.
At first I called it an agent. Then a harness. Then a platform.
Every time someone asked, I gave a different answer.
So today I talked it through. Out loud, with Claude.
And it asked me: “When you imagine NLC working - really working, a year from now - what does that actually look like?”
Not the business metrics, but what am I doing day to day? Who am I talking to and what problem did I just solved for them?
And immediately I knew the answer.
Partners, not tools.
And that segments into six things:

#1: I want an Agent that calls me out on my bullshit.
Not one that folds the moment I am stubborn about something dumb.
Or praise me the moment I explained my idea by saying "Oh, that's such an AMAZING idea!"
Pleasing and serving are two very different things.

#2: I want an Agent that remembers.
Like that senior guy who's been at the company for 40 years.
Who’s been through all the company’s ups and downs, and has devoted his life to that company.
If you tell him something today that contradicts what you told him 5 years ago, he will call you out on it.
You shouldn’t have to ask it to ‘search’ for something.
It should contextually be so aware, that it surfaces the right info at the right time.
PROACTIVELY.

#3. I want an Agent I don’t have to BABYSIT.
Not an intern I have to poke, prod, and micromanage through every step.
I want an AI that THINKS on my behalf, takes ownership of parts of my business, and just goes and executes.
I don't want to have to ‘prompt’ my AI just to get an output.

#4. I want an Agent that won't burn my house down.
I don't want to wake up to $700 in SMS bills because my agent went rogue overnight.
Or $10,000 lost because it decided that a meme coin is good investment.
Stable. And boring in the best way possible.

#5: I want an Agent that has ZERO learning curve.
And this is the one that gripes me the most.
We live in an age where AI is getting smarter every day.
Why the HELL are WE the ones having to learn how to talk to it?
Just to TALK to it? I think this is BS.
A good Agent is an agent you don’t have to learn, but an agent that learns YOU.

#6: I want ONE interface, not 10.
And this is probably the most important one of all.
I don’t want to have to juggle 10-15 different softwares and platforms just to run my business.
Why are people so eager to learn ways to be inefficient?
We are in the AGENTIC age now.
Why should we tolerate having a ‘tech stack’ of 15 different tools we have to stitch together to make the business work?
I want ONE interface, and ONE person I talk to, that can go and do everything for me.
And that’s the vision.

After I finished listing them out, there it was.
I was feeling weird these past few months because I was chasing a moving target.
Trying to keep up with Anthropic, anticipating their ‘next move’ to plan accordingly.
But the clarity is simple: It doesn’t matter. They’re noise.
Am I building NLC because that’s the vision?
Or am I building it because it’s the infrastructure that would make that vision possible?
The answer is simply…I am building it because that’s what I want.
I - no one else.
Because nothing is available out there that caters to what I want.
Neither would Anthropic - by necessity - decide to make Claude become something perfectly suited for people like myself.
It’s got nothing to do with model intelligence or the quality of life improvements they make to their app.
It’s got everything to do with simply preference.
And this is MY preference.
I kept calling it different things. An agent. A harness. An app. None of them fit.
It's infrastructure that makes it possible to build a lean, 1-man business with very high output.
I'm building it because that's what I want.
And I dare say, it’s something that only gets better as the models get smarter.
That is NLC.
