A few days ago I posted my hopes about the “1M1B” business.
I considered this news of a guy who managed to, with just him, his brother, and an AI stack, to be on track to hit $1.8B revenue this year.
Well, apparently he’s a fraud.
The truth, as I learned since:
The founder claimed he and his brother built an AI-powered company (Medvi)
Projected to hit $1.8B revenue with a tiny team
Claimed AI ran his entire operation: coding, marketing, operations, etc.
Reality: They relied on existing telehealth infrastructure
Used fake doctor identities, fake AI generated testimonials, misleading claims in their marketing
On top of that, his AI systems (chatbots) produced wrong price and product info for their customers.
Above all, the growth was driven mostly by GLP-1 weight-loss drug demand, not pure AI leverage.
Shame.
It’s on me too, for believing the headlines.
But I don’t regret believing in the dream.
I still believe because everything we take for granted today was once considered impossible.
E.g. Roger Bannister’s “four minute mile”
Powered flight.
Going to space.
Once upon a time, cavemen didn’t think fire was possible.
Yet here we are.
We WILL have a “1P1B” business - it’s just a matter of time.
And when they do, others will do so too.
The possibility of that future genuinely scares and excites me both.
Excites me because of what it can mean to me.
Scares me also because of what it can mean to me.
I am not going to lie and say corny things as a follow up to that, like “...which is why I’m making it my mission to teach as many people about AI as possible!”
(Even thought I do believe knowing AI is necessary.)
What’s true and honest to me is simply: I hope me and the people I care about are gonna be on the right side of this.
